A couple of things to consider:
- Please note that because we are a volunteer and artist-led organization, we may not attend every opening we are invited to due to writer coverage and availability.
- We are attempting to make space for newer writers, and artist/writers. On occasion a writer may attend a show and we may not publish the piece for the following reasons: they feel they were the wrong critic for the show, or they cannot criticize the show from a place of love and compassion as our values demand. This is intended to protect both writer and company from unnecessary “bad” press. We only publish if we are that company’s cheerleader, or we want to genuinely provide a solution to a debate, even if there is much to criticize in that process. Therefore, if we decide there are no redeeming aspects or actionable items in the piece we may choose not to run it. This is incredibly rare and you will be notified if this is the case.
- We are an online platform dedicated to providing a historical record of theatre criticism, which means unlike a newspaper urgency is not our main function. Our internal goal is to publish reviews within 1-2 weeks of a writer seeing a show, but “the moment never passes” here at Rescripted, and we may publish a review or critical essay about the piece late in the run, or even after closing.
